Totally captivated in 2007 by the live camera feed of the Hornby Island nesting Bald Eagles in B.C., I was drawn into birding and have never looked back. Thus begins my account of what I'm fortunate enough to discover each day and perhaps capture with my camera.

Thursday, May 13th- Part Un

As this was my last full day to bird in B.C., I determined my "final destinations" with great ease: of course I just had to return to the Fen one last time, followed by the ferry jetty for the Black Oystercatchers (had to make up for the drive-by view of them last week), and finally the foot of 72nd Avenue on Boundary Bay for my Trash Birds Bald Eagles. I had a fabulous day and accomplished all of my goals, plus a few unexpected treats, so will divide my day into parts, "Part Un" being Serpentine Fen:

As I drove into the parking lot, an adult roosting Trash Bird Bald Eagle, took flight, Ann, no doubt a good omen for the day ahead. I immediately looked in on the Bushtit family, and was pleased to see mom still doing her part re feeding the kids (even saw a few hungry mouths inside the nest!), but dad was nowhere to be seen, what a disappointment! The usual suspects were there, including this pair of Brown-headed Cowbirds engaged in whatever

I carried on to the area frequented by assorted ducks and left them my Chickadee-reject birdseed from Reifel, and on the way discovered this gem of a Bewick's Wren doing his morning preening, quite fitting to see one on my last visit here as I saw one on my first visit here a few weeks ago:

And lastly, my Trash Bird runner-up for this trip, a Spotted Towhee, with his beak full of moving icky things, in fact the same icky things the Bushtits feed their young with:

End of Part Un!
